Promotion
Promotion in chess is when a pawn reaches the end of the board and turns into another piece. This piece could be a knight, bishop, rook, or finally the queen. This commonly happens in the endgame. At the end of the game, sometimes your opponent or yourself may have one pawn and try to promote it. Many get confused while noting the game down, some may get confuzzled because they don't know what to put to say that one has promoted. The notation is the letter file the pawn is on, and then put 8 if you are white and promoting, or for black promoting, put 1 after the letter file you are on. Then, you put an equals sign and write down what the opponent picked to promote the pawn to directly after the equals sign. After that, you should end up with either these 8 moves or notations a8 (whatever piece the opponent picked) and so on until h8. If you check the opponent's king or the other way around, then you would put a8+= (whatever piece the opponent picked).
Thank you for your time in reading this, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
